Is NAD+ Therapy Actually Backed by Science, or Is It Just Hype?
This is a fair question, and I respect patients from Santa Ana who ask it. NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a real coenzyme that exists in every cell in your body. The science on its role in cellular energy production, DNA repair, and aging is legitimate and published in peer-reviewed journals. Where it gets murky is when clinics promise it cures everything from depression to cancer. I won't make those claims. What I will tell you is that patients who do IV NAD+ therapy or injections at our practice consistently report better energy, sharper thinking, and improved sleep. Those are the benefits I can stand behind based on what I see in my own patients, not based on marketing claims. I (Dr. Mirrafati) been doing IV therapy and injections for over 30 years, and most importantly, I am the one injecting it and not a nurse.
What Happens During an IV NAD+ Session
You sit in a comfortable chair while we administer NAD+ through an IV drip or you can take the shots home which is done most often. IV Sessions last between two and four hours depending on the dosage. It's slow on purpose. If NAD+ is pushed too fast, you'll feel flushing, chest tightness, or nausea. We control the drip rate carefully to keep you comfortable. Most of my Santa Ana patients bring a book, work on their laptop, or watch something on their phone. Some people feel the effects during the infusion. Others notice it the next day.
Who Benefits Most From NAD+ Therapy
I see the best results in patients who are dealing with chronic fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep quality, or just feeling like they've aged ten years in the past two. It's also popular with patients recovering from illness, high-stress professionals, and people in athletic training who want faster recovery. Some of my patients combine NAD+ with our weight loss program or peptide therapy for a more complete wellness protocol. NAD+ isn't a replacement for eating well, sleeping enough, and exercising. But it can give your cells the raw materials they need to function better.
