Question 1

Is male breast augmentation the same for cosmetic and transgender purposes?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the surgical procedure is similar. However, the goals and final appearance may differ. Dr. Mirrafati at Mira Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgery Center tailors each procedure to the patient's specific needs and desired outcome.

Question 2

What are the different types of breast implants available?

Accepted Answer

There are three main types: saline (filled with sterile salt water), silicone (filled with silicone gel). Each has unique benefits and considerations that Dr. Mirrafati will discuss during your consultation.

Question 3

Where are the incisions typically made for male breast augmentation?

Accepted Answer

Common incision sites include the armpit (transaxillary), around the nipple (periareolar), and under the breast fold (inframammary). Dr. Mirrafati preferred approach is transaxillary Mira Mist technique.

Question 4

How long is the recovery period after male breast implant surgery?

Accepted Answer

Most patients need 1-2 weeks away from work and regular activities. Full recovery with unrestricted exercise may take 4-6 weeks. Final results develop over several months as swelling resolves and implants settle.

Question 5

What are the potential risks of male breast augmentation?

Accepted Answer

Risks include infection, bleeding, changes in nipple sensation, implant rupture or leakage, capsular contracture (hardening of tissue around the implant), and the need for revision surgery. Dr. Mirrafati discusses all risks during your consultation at Mira Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgery Center. Dr. Mirrafati is very proud of not having a single case of infection or nipple sensation loss in the 7000+ transaxillary breast surgeries he has performed.

Question 6

Will I have scars after the surgery?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there will be scars, but Dr. Mirrafati places them in locations that minimize visibility. The type and placement of your incisions determine the location of scars.

Question 7

How long do breast implants last?

Accepted Answer

Saline implants typically last around 16 years, while silicone may last longer. Most patients will need revision surgery at some point. Regular check-ups with Dr. Mirrafati help monitor your implants over time.

Question 8

Can hormone therapy help with breast growth for transgender individuals?

Accepted Answer

Yes, hormone therapy often produces breast growth in transgender women. However, the results vary greatly between individuals. Many transgender women choose breast augmentation surgery to achieve their desired breast size and shape when hormone therapy alone is insufficient.
