Most patients return to social activities within two weeks, though complete recovery may take several months. Initial swelling and bruising typically subside within the first 7-14 days.

Question 4

Will I have visible scars after a neck lift?

Accepted Answer

Incisions are strategically placed to be as inconspicuous as possible, typically behind the ears or under the chin. Once healed, these scars are usually very difficult to detect.

Question 5

How long will the results of a neck lift last?

Accepted Answer

Results typically last 8-10 years or longer, though the natural aging process continues. Proper skincare and sun protection can help maintain your results.

Question 6

Am I a good candidate for a neck lift if I have a sagging neck?

Accepted Answer

If you have loose skin, excess fat, or muscle banding in your neck area and are in good general health, you're likely a good candidate. Dr. Mirrafati can determine this during your consultation.

Question 7

Are there any non-surgical options for sagging neck?

Accepted Answer

Yes, options include Botox for neck bands, and various skin tightening treatments. These typically offer more subtle results than surgery.

Question 8

Is a neck lift painful?

Accepted Answer

Most patients experience mild to moderate discomfort rather than severe pain. Prescription pain medication helps manage any discomfort during the initial recovery period.

Question 9

When can I return to work after a neck lift?

Accepted Answer

Most patients return to desk jobs within 10-14 days. Jobs requiring physical activity may require a longer recovery period of 3-4 weeks.

Question 10

Can I get a neck lift without a facelift?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. While many patients combine procedures for comprehensive rejuvenation, a neck lift alone can dramatically improve neck appearance if the face shows minimal aging.

Question 11

What causes the neck to sag?

Accepted Answer

Aging, genetics, weight fluctuations, sun damage, and gravity all contribute to neck sagging over time.

Question 12

How do I prepare for a neck lift?

Accepted Answer

Preparation includes stopping certain medications, avoiding smoking, arranging for recovery assistance, and following specific pre-operative instructions from your surgeon.

Question 13

What are the risks of neck lift surgery?

Accepted Answer

Risks include infection, bleeding, scarring, numbness, and asymmetry. Choosing an experienced surgeon like Dr. Mirrafati minimizes these risks.

Question 14

When can I exercise again after a neck lift?

Accepted Answer

Light walking is encouraged within days, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 3-4 weeks or as directed by your surgeon.

Neck lifts are considered cosmetic and typically not covered by insurance. However, financing options are available at Mira Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgery Center.

Question 16

How can I prolong my neck lift results?

Accepted Answer
