Most patients who come in for a breast augmentation consultation eventually ask the same question. Not “what size should I get” or “silicone or saline.” The first real question, once they realize they want to move forward, is usually some version of: “How Much Is a Monthly Payment for Breast Implants?”
That question deserves a straight answer. So here it is.
At Mira Aesthetic, breast augmentation in Orange County runs from $4,900 to $7,900 depending on a few factors I will explain below. With financing spread over three to four years, the monthly payment can be as low as $99 per month. That is not a teaser rate or a bait number. That is a real figure patients are paying right now at our Costa Mesa practice.
Here is how it works.
What Breast Augmentation Actually Costs in Orange County
Let me be specific because vague pricing helps no one, and I have noticed a lot of Orange County practices either hide their numbers or bury them in fine print.
Saline implants start at $4,900. Silicone runs about $1,000 more, so call it $5,900 as your baseline. If you need a procedure called fold lowering, where I adjust the inframammary fold to create the right pocket position, that adds another $1,000. So the realistic range is $4,900 on the low end and $7,900 on the high end.
Most patients land somewhere in the middle.
What drives you toward the higher end is silicone plus the fold adjustment. What keeps you closer to the lower end is saline implants with straightforward anatomy. During your consultation at any of our locations in Costa Mesa, Downey, or Rancho Cucamonga, I can tell you within the first few minutes where your case falls.
Financing vs. Payment Plan — They Are Not the Same Thing
Here is something most patients do not realize walking in, whether they are coming from Irvine, Huntington Beach, or anywhere else in the greater Orange County area.
There is a difference between a financing option and a payment plan, and it matters.
CareCredit is financing. You are taking out a loan, and that loan comes with interest charges just like any other credit product. It is not a bank loan, but it functions similarly. CareCredit is accepted at more than 285,000 healthcare provider locations and is designed specifically for health and wellness expenses.
Cherry is a payment plan. The mechanics are a little different. Cherry automatically pulls your monthly payment from your account on a set schedule. It feels more like a subscription than a loan. Cherry offers payment plans ranging from six weeks interest-free up to 60 months, with qualifying 0% APR options for eligible patients.
Both have interest attached. Neither one is free money. But both offer a six-month zero-interest window, which I will explain in a moment because patients sometimes misunderstand what that actually means.
The Six-Month No-Interest Window — Read This Carefully
Both CareCredit and Cherry offer six months with no interest if you pay the balance in full within that window.
That sounds great. And it is, if you actually pay it off.
Here is the problem. If you do not pay it off completely within six months, you do not just start accruing interest from month seven. In many cases, you get hit with all the back interest that was deferred during those six months, all at once. It is called a balloon payment, and patients across Orange County are genuinely shocked when it happens because nobody explained it to them upfront.
This is not unique to medical financing. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has specifically warned consumers about deferred interest promotions, noting that if any balance remains when the promotional period ends, interest is charged back to the original purchase date. The interest rate on these products is typically around 25 percent, which means even a small remaining balance can generate a surprisingly large interest charge.
My advice is this: if you know you cannot pay it off in six months, do not go into it planning to. Pick the three-year or four-year plan upfront, make your fixed monthly payments, and if you come into extra money later, pay it down early. Neither CareCredit nor Cherry charges a prepayment penalty. You can pay it off in year one even if you signed up for year four and they will not penalize you for it.
What $99 a Month Actually Looks Like for Orange County Patients
On a $4,900 to $5,900 balance financed over 48 months through Cherry, you are looking at payments in the $99 to $130 range per month depending on your approved rate.
That is roughly what most patients at our Costa Mesa and Downey locations end up paying.
Here is a general estimate based on the price ranges we see most often:
| Amount Financed | 24 Months | 36 Months | 48 Months |
|---|---|---|---|
| $4,900 | ~$230/mo | ~$160/mo | ~$125/mo |
| $5,900 | ~$275/mo | ~$195/mo | ~$150/mo |
| $7,900 | ~$370/mo | ~$260/mo | ~$200/mo |
Actual rates vary based on your approved APR. These are estimates for planning purposes.
One thing I tell patients all the time: you do not have to finance the whole amount. If you have $2,000 saved, put that down. Finance the remaining $2,900 or $3,900. Your monthly payment drops considerably and you pay less interest overall.
A lot of patients do not think of it that way. They assume it is all or nothing. It is not.
Does Applying Hurt Your Credit Score?
Cherry uses a soft credit pull for the initial approval check. That means checking whether you qualify does not affect your credit score. You can find out if you are approved before you commit to anything.
CareCredit also has a pre-qualification option that uses a soft pull. The hard inquiry typically only happens when you formally accept the credit.
If you are on the fence about whether you can qualify, just check. It costs you nothing to find out. Many of our Orange County patients are surprised to learn they were approved the same day they called. CareCredit explains how its financing works specifically for elective cosmetic procedures, including what to expect during the application process and how to evaluate your options before committing. One thing I always tell my patients during their consultation is to apply for Cherry and see if they qualify. The application process takes less than a minute and you get real time approval status within minutes.
How to Apply for Breast Implant Financing Before Your Consultation
You do not have to wait until you are sitting in our office to find out if you qualify.
Both Cherry and CareCredit allow you to apply online before your consultation appointment. That means by the time you come in to meet with me at our Costa Mesa location, you already know your approved amount and your estimated monthly payment. We can spend the consultation talking about your anatomy and your goals instead of logistics.
Here Is What the Process Looks Like
- Visit Cherry’s patient portal or CareCredit’s website and complete the pre-qualification form
- The soft pull approval usually takes two to three minutes
- Bring your approval confirmation to your consultation
- We apply the approved amount to your procedure cost and lock in your payment plan
It is a straightforward process and one I encourage every patient considering breast augmentation in Orange County to complete before their first appointment.
Who Qualifies for Breast Implant Financing in Orange County?
There is no single credit score cutoff I can give you because both Cherry and CareCredit have their own approval criteria and they adjust them over time.
What I can tell you is this. Cherry generally works with fair to good credit profiles and has an industry approval rate above 80 percent. CareCredit has historically approved patients with scores in the mid-600s, though this varies. Both programs factor in more than just your score. Income and your overall debt-to-income ratio matter too.
If you have been turned down by a standard lender for something cosmetic before, it is still worth checking both options. They are built specifically for medical and cosmetic financing, which means their approval model is different from a bank or a credit card company.
Being declined by one does not mean you will be declined by both. I have had patients come into our Rancho Cucamonga office convinced they would not qualify, and they walked out approved the same day.
The approval process takes minutes. There is no reason not to check. Read How Do Most People Pay for Breast Implants?
Common Mistakes Orange County Patients Make With Financing
I have seen these play out enough times that it is worth saying directly.
Mistake One: Going In With the Six-Month Plan and No Savings Safety Net
If something comes up in month four and you cannot pay the balance, you are going to get hit with that deferred interest all at once. The CFPB advises that minimum monthly payments alone usually will not be enough to pay off a deferred interest balance before the promotional period ends. Be honest with yourself about your finances before you commit to the short-term plan.
Mistake Two: Not Asking About Splitting the Financing
You can use savings for part of it and finance the rest. Most patients assume they have to choose one or the other. They do not.
Mistake Three: Assuming All Financing Options Are the Same
Some third-party options like Affirm have different structures and some do carry prepayment penalties. At Mira Aesthetic we work with Cherry and CareCredit specifically because we have seen how they perform for our patients over time across all three of our locations. That does not mean other options are wrong, but you should read the terms carefully before signing anything I did not hand you.
Is Financing Breast Augmentation a Smart Financial Decision?
This is a question I respect patients for asking because it means they are thinking clearly.
When Financing Makes Sense
- Your income is stable and the monthly payment fits your budget without stress
- You have an emergency fund separate from your surgical savings
- You are choosing a longer term plan with eyes open about the total interest cost
- You are combining a partial down payment with financing to reduce what you borrow
When You Should Wait and Save Instead
- The monthly payment would stretch your budget uncomfortably
- You are relying entirely on the six-month plan without a realistic path to pay it off
- You are in between jobs or anticipating a major expense in the next year
I would rather have this conversation with a patient before surgery than have them come back six months later under financial stress. A good outcome means you are happy with your results and your finances are intact. The CFPB has reported that medical financing products can sometimes add financial stress rather than relieve it, particularly when patients are not fully informed about the terms before signing. We make sure you understand every term before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the lowest monthly payment I can expect for breast implants in Orange County?
Based on our current pricing and a 48-month plan through Cherry, payments can start around $99 per month. This assumes you are financing the full amount with no down payment. A partial down payment will lower it further.
Do I need perfect credit to get approved?
No. Both Cherry and CareCredit work with patients across a range of credit profiles. The soft pull pre-qualification lets you check without any impact to your score.
Can I put some money down and finance the rest?
Yes, and I actually recommend it. Finance only what you need to. If you have savings, use part of them. It reduces your monthly payment and the total interest you pay.
Is there a penalty for paying it off early?
Not with Cherry or CareCredit. You can pay off the balance at any point without a fee.
How long does it take to get approved?
The soft pull pre-qualification through both Cherry and CareCredit typically takes two to three minutes online. Same-day approval is common.
Can I use Cherry and CareCredit together?
In some cases, yes. If your approved amount through one program does not cover the full balance, you can sometimes use a second option to cover the remainder. Ask us about this at your consultation and we will help you work through the numbers.
What happens if I miss a payment?
Standard late fees apply depending on your agreement. If you are going through financial hardship, contact the financing company directly before you miss a payment. Most have hardship programs that are not widely advertised.
