The goal of a Mommy Makeover is to re-contour the body after a woman is done having children. The procedure can consist of a combination of the following surgeries; abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, liposuction, breast lift or breast implants, butt lift or augmentation and finally a labiaplasty. A mommy makeover is typically performed as a single-stage procedure depending on what’s being done. Dr. Mirrafati will give his recommendation on what you need in order to re-contour your figure after you’re done having children. The ideal mommy makeover candidate is the woman who is in good medical health, at or very close to your ideal weight, have positive and realistic expectations, and finally that you’re done having children.
During the consultation the patient can expect for Dr. Mirrafati to ask about your objectives and concerns. He will discuss with you his recommendations and what can be done to restore harmony to your body post-children. A complete medical history and a careful examination will be performed including blood work to determine the general health of the patient. During the consultation photographs will be taken to compare the before and after and evaluate the improvement achieved.
Prior to the surgery Dr. Mirrafati will discuss the procedure, realistic expectations, the type of anesthesia that will be used and the possible risks of surgery. Preoperative instructions generally include taking certain vitamins and the elimination of certain drugs such as birth control pills to minimize the possibility of excess bleeding. Furthermore, antibiotics may be prescribed for the days prior to surgery in order to prevent infection.
A Mommy Makeover is generally performed at our outpatient surgical facility under general anesthesia or IV sedation. After the surgery the patient is usually allowed to go home. A surgical dressing is placed to protect the incisions and a compression garment might also be advised. Oral medications will be prescribed to reduce the risk of infection. Healing is gradual and might take a few weeks. Although light activity can be resumed shortly after, routine exercising and vigorous activity should be avoided until specified by the doctor.
With any surgical procedure risk including bleeding and infection can occur. At Mira Aesthetic Medical Center we will inform you of the potential risks and advice you to adhere to doctors orders. The decision to have plastic surgery is extremely personal and only you can weight the potential risks and benefits of surgery.
