During a Brazilian butt lift, Dr. Mirrafati will harvest the fat from the abdomen, thighs, upper back or anywhere there is an excess of fat. By removing fat from certain areas such as the abdomen and placing it into the buttocks, you can restore harmony to a patient’s body, accentuate the waist, and re-contour the entire torso. The end result is typically a narrower waist, a shapelier buttock and hips. A Brazilian Butt Lift is basically a combination of liposuction and buttocks augmentation.
During your consultation, Dr. Mirrafati will ask about your personal goals. He will do a full examination determining the best places to add and subtract fat in order to get you closer to your desired body goals. A complete medical history and a careful examination will be performed including blood work to determine the general health of the patient. During the consultation photographs willbe taken to compare the before and after and evaluate the results.
Prior to the surgery Dr. Mirrafati will discuss the procedure, realistic expectations, the type of anesthesia that will be used and the possible risks of surgery. Preoperative instructions generally include taking certain vitamins and the elimination of certain drugs such as birth control pills to minimize the possibility of excess bleeding. Furthermore, antibiotics may be prescribed for the days prior to surgery in order to prevent infection.
A Brazilian Butt Lift is generally performed at our outpatient surgical facility under general anesthesia or IV sedation. The results of a buttock augmentation are immediately visible, however, you will not see your final results until months after the surgery, as it takes a while for the fat to “take.” Some of the initial volume you experience after your fat transfer procedure will fade as your body absorbs the fat. As you gain or lose weight, your results may change as the transferred fat can grow or shrink just as any other.
After the surgery the patient is usually allowed to go home. A surgical dressing is placed to protect the incisions and a supportive garment may be required for the first few weeks. Healing is gradual, and although light activity can be resumed within a few days, routine exercising and vigorous activity should be avoided until specified by the doctor.
With any surgical procedure risk including bleeding and infection can occur. At Mira Aesthetic Medical Center we will inform you of the potential risks and advice you to adhere to doctors orders. The decision to have plastic surgery is extremely personal andonly you can weight the potential risks and benefits of surgery.
