Liquid Rhinoplasty Before and After Patient 4
What If Your Nasal Bump Is Not Actually a Bump?
This is something I see more often than people realize. This patient is a Hispanic woman in her 30s who drove from Downey to our Costa Mesa office because she was unhappy with what she thought were bumps on her nose. When I examined her, she did not actually have a true nasal hump. What was happening was the combination of a deep nasal bridge and a droopy nasal tip created the illusion of bumps along the profile. The bridge sat low, the tip pointed down, and the angle between the two made the nose look humped even though the bone itself was relatively smooth.
This distinction matters because it changes the treatment plan. If you have an actual bony hump, I need to place filler in a way that builds over it. In her case, I needed to elevate the bridge to fill in the depth and lift the tip so it stopped pulling the profile downward. Once those two things were corrected, the appearance of the bumps went away on its own because the root cause was addressed.
She was also a perfect candidate for liquid rhinoplasty for another reason. She was not 100 percent sure she wanted a permanent change. Liquid rhinoplasty gave her the chance to see how her nose would look with a straighter bridge and a lifted tip before making any decisions about surgical rhinoplasty. We do both at Mira Aesthetic, so if she decides down the road that she wants a permanent surgical result, we can do that too. But she got to test drive the look first without any commitment, and that is a huge advantage for someone who is on the fence.
Look at the before photos. The bridge is deep and the tip drops, creating that false hump appearance along the profile. In the after photos the bridge is elevated, the tip is lifted and more refined, and the profile reads as smooth and balanced. The bumps are gone because the underlying geometry that was creating them has been corrected. She was really happy with the result and I think these photos show why.
The treatment took about 15 minutes. No surgery, no anesthesia, no downtime. She drove back to Downey the same day.
Treatment performed me, Dr. Sid Mirrafati, M.D., Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, at Mira Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgery Center in Costa Mesa, Orange County.
