Liquid Rhinoplasty Before and After Patient 1

A bigger difference than most people expect, and this patient is proof. He is a 20-year-old Hispanic male from Fountain Valley with fair skin and freckles who came to Mira Aesthetic Cosmetic Surgery Center unhappy with what he described as a huge bump on his nose. He was also bothered by how deep his nasal ridge sat and wanted his tip refined and slightly lifted.

At 20 years old, a lot of patients assume surgery is the only way to deal with a prominent bump. That is not always true. When I examined him, the bump was significant but it was a contour issue, not a structural bone problem that required breaking and resetting. That makes it a strong candidate for liquid rhinoplasty. I placed filler above and below the bump to build the bridge up to a straight line, which makes the bump disappear visually. Then I added a small amount to the tip to give it more definition and a slight lift.

Look at the before photos. The bump dominates the profile and the deep nasal ridge makes the middle of his face look heavier than it should for a young guy. The tip is undefined and sits low. Now look at the after. The bridge is elevated and smooth. The bump is gone. The tip is refined with more projection and a subtle lift that makes it look cleaner and more proportionate to the rest of his features. His face reads as balanced now in a way it did not before.

Here is something I want younger patients to understand. At 20, your face is still changing. Liquid rhinoplasty is a smart move at that age because you are not locking yourself into a permanent surgical result on a face that has not finished maturing. If he loves this look at 25 or 30, he can keep maintaining it with touch-ups or decide to go surgical at that point. If his preferences change as his face matures, his nose goes back to its natural shape on its own. There is no commitment and no irreversible decision. For a 20-year-old who knows something bothers him but is not ready to make a permanent call, that flexibility is a real advantage.

The treatment took about 15 minutes. No surgery, no anesthesia, no downtime. He went back to his day right after leaving our Costa Mesa office.
